The OZEV Workplace Charge Scheme, in plain English.
The Workplace Charge Scheme (WCS) is the UK government's main grant for commercial EV charging. It pays £350 per socket installed at your workplace - up to 40 sockets, capped at £14,000 per applicant.
Who is eligible?
- UK-registered businesses, charities, and public-sector bodies.
- Off-street parking dedicated to staff or fleet (not customer-facing).
- Must install through an OZEV-authorised installer (VoltArch's panel is).
How the grant maths works
The grant is per socket, not per charger. A dual-socket 22kW unit counts as 2 sockets - so 20 dual-socket units = 40 sockets = the full £14,000 cap. If you only need 8 sockets, you get £2,800.
How to claim
- Apply for a WCS voucher (we do this for you during the survey).
- OZEV issues a voucher valid for 6 months.
- We install within the voucher window.
- We redeem the voucher and discount it from your invoice.
What it does NOT cover
- Customer-facing chargers (use the destination route - revenue covers the install).
- Supply upgrades or DNO costs (look at the EV Infrastructure Grant for those).
- OCPP back-office subscriptions.
